SOUTHERN NZ GYMNASTICS COACHES GATHER.

In 2003 Christchurch School of Gymnastics resurrected the NZ Gymnastics Coaching School that had become defunct. It had been replaced by a Coach Education programme that wasn’t quite filling the need for hands on experience and sharing of ideas and techniques. It also doesn’t cater for the needs of the gymnasts to get together and form friendships and the special bond that develops from learning together.

“The 2003 clinic hosted by our club was such a success for the coaches and the gymnasts that it was decided to run it every two years “said Avril Enslow the ChCh School of Gymnastics Executive Officer.

Gymnasts from the region have dominated the New Zealand Levels Teams over the last 2 years, 9 of the 12 that were selected in 2004 were from this region, and we believe that this clinic has been part of the reason.

The aim is to work together to achieve.

Coaches from Invercargill to Wellington will gather along with 30 senior gymnasts for intensive learning sessions over the 5 days.

Session times are

 Friday   21st January 10am to 1pm 3.30pm to 5.30pm
 Saturday 22nd January 9.30am to 1.30pm
 Sunday  23rd January 9.00am to 1.00pm
 Monday  24th January 9.00am to 1.00pm
 Tuesday  25th January 9.00am to 1.00pm

All sessions are excellent for photo opportunities.

A Summer school Junior clinic will also be running from the 24th to 27th January 3.30pm to 6.30pm.
