Gymnastics Year Gets Underway.

National clinic for Male Gymnasts

NEWS RELEASE  March 9th, 2004

This weekend, March 13th / 14th will see 40 male artistic gymnasts and 14 coaches from around NZ descending on Christchurch School of Gymnastics Stadium at QE11 for an intensive pre season Apex training clinic.

Christchurch School of Gymnastics, who is hosting the clinic was a predominantly girl’s artistic club until it began boys competition classes in 2001. The boy’s side has grown so much that they are now the strongest club in Canterbury in both disciplines.  In 2003 the club took out 4 of the 5 Canterbury boy’s titles contested, and this year, added 2 senior men to their numbers, one from the UK and the other making a comeback after a year off after shoulder surgery.

All the boys are training hard and this clinic will be a great way to start the season. Kerrin Bishop (Auck) and Martin Langdon (BOP), both members of the NZ Men’s Technical Committee, will be hosting the clinic along with other Senior coaches.
