Gymnastics Year Gets Underway.

Building Additions and Alterations - March 2005

Last Thursday the CCC Councillors voted on the 2006 annual plan for the city. In the document was a recommendation from the staff that the 2005/6 Civic and Community funding be allocated to Te Papanui Trust ($250,000) and Christchurch School of Gymnastics ($350,000). The Civic and Community Funding comes from last years interest on the profit from the sale of South power. The grants will not alter the rates at all.

The vote was unanimous, and the grant funding will be published in the Annual Plan. This document - "Statement of Proposal" will be available to the public from 11th April and written submissions may be made up until 13th May. Once the Annual Plan has been accepted then the money can be uplifted after 1st July 2005.

We owe a huge thank you to all the Councillors and especially the ones that went into bat for us- Graham Condon, Barry Corbett, Norm Withers, Carole Evans. The Councillors were invited to our facility to see what we do first hand and were given a lot of information about our club and programmes.

Planning is now underway to finalise the plans as we await the final confirmation of the lease here at QE11 Park.
If you see the councillors make sure that you acknowledge the support and confidence they have shown in us.
It is also important that we have favourable submissions to the council on our funding grant. I will remind you once submissions are open.
