QEII Park and Indoor Leisure Pool

Right beside our gym is QEII Park where parents can walk, jog, swim, do weights or just about any other fitness activity of their choice while their children are doing gym.

Some of our gymnasts take advantage of QEII just before or after gymnastics training.

The themed leisure pool features a 40m - long wave pool, children’s play zone and a shallow beach-like entry area. Opened August 2002, this completed a two-and-a-half year, $20.7 million redevelopment that has involved the construction of a 50m international standard competition pool, the themed leisure pool and a teaching pool.

It is the largest indoor leisure pool in Australasia and largest wave-pool in New Zealand.

QEII Park was first built for the 1974 Commonwealth Games and has been a premier athletic and sporting icon for both Christchurch and New Zealand. it now caters to family recreation through to elite sport performance and development.

It is also home to the New Zealand Academy of Sport which helps promote and develop our coaches and athletes.
