Why CSG?

  CSG is the Regional High Performance Centre for the South Island.

  • Fantastic facility -
    • World Class dedicated purpose built competitive training gym, and a trampoline & general gymnastic gymnasium
  • Amazing situation -
    • sited on QEII park, the NZ Academy of Sport Centre of Excellence for the South Island
    • QEII is the biggest sports facility park in NZ, and houses the Regional Sports Trust, SPARC representatives and Academy SI offices as well as many local and regional sports offices.
  • Best group of coaching staff in NZ
    • Head Coach is the former Romanian National coach - Iosif Ferencz. Coached gymnasts to World and Olympic medals. Head Coach for Romania at the Atlanta Olympics.Coach for the NZ Team to compete at the AYOF in January 2009, coach for the NZ Team to South African Cup November 2009.
    • Strong group of professional staff from Russia, England, Canada, UK, USA and NZ.
    • 2 Staff coaches are on National and regional technical and development committees.
    • 4 staff are current GSNZ qualified Course presenters.
    • 2 staff are on the NZ Coaches sub committee
  • 2 full sets of international standard gymnastics and trampoline equipment, as well as modified apparatus for younger children.
  • Biggest sport employer in the South Island
  • Largest gymnastics club in New Zealand
  • Strong high Performance programmes. Structured development with a 4 tiered programme. Only club competing the Australian International High Performance Programme.
  • Best trampoline club in New Zealand in 2006 and 2007.
  • Best artistic gymnastics club in New Zealand - 40 titles at the 2009 National Championships. 
  • Judges, 4 internationally qualified brevet judges, both men's and women's. Judges have officiated at 4 Olympics, 6 Commonwealths and 10 World Championships.
  • Administrators. CSG administrators have won many regional awards as officials and as administrators.
  • 43 years old and still going strong
  • Only club in NZ to have completed the Club 10 to a 5 star level. (Australia's equivalent of ClubMark)
  • Gold ClubMark denoting strong structures and governance from Sport Canterbury. Re affirmed June 2008.
  • Very reasonable competitive training fees. Cheapest competitive fees of all senior clubs in NZ. Transferring in? We do have a transfer fee. 
  • Scholarship scheme for gymnasts, coaches and officials.
